About us
Efect School of English in Belfast is recognized as a Callan Method teaching school by the Callan Method Organisation based in London, UK. The goal of our English school is to help people improve their lives by learning to speak the language quickly and well.
Many newcomers to Ireland told us that when they tried other English schools they soon became frustrated and quit. They found the lessons boring with too much focus on grammar and not enough time spent on spoken English conversation. Progress was slowed even further by large classes with too many students per teacher.
But at Efect, our class size is very small and the emphasis is on direct verbal interaction between teacher and individual students. And because the Callan Method takes less time to learn, students can more quickly begin using their English ability to succeed at work, school and all aspects of life. At Efect School of English, we help our students reach their goals by:
- Teaching them English in the shortest possible time.
- Providing a pleasant and supportive learning environment.
- Identifying each student's individual needs and helping them overcomeany difficulties.
- Delivering the best quality instruction from Callan Method-trained teachers.
Our Instructors
Callan Method teachers are selected for their lively personalities and ability to keep their students' attention, important qualities for effective learning. The teachers at Efect School of English take 40 hours of Callan Method training before they begin to teach. Their performance is continually monitored and even the most experienced teachers are required to take refresher training.
Our Founder
The founder and director of Efect School of English, Dawid Hartel, was born and raised in Poland. He studied English at a private Callan Method school, completing all 12 stages of the English program and passing the First Certificate exam.
After moving to Belfast, Northern Ireland, he recognized how hard it was for foreign nationals to learn English because of the poor quality of lessons that were available. So in 2007 he began planning an English school that would use the Callan Method exclusively. Efect School of English opened in 2008 and has already helped many people improve their English and their futures.
